Katie James

Katie graduated magna cum laude with honors from the University of South Carolina and the University of Houston Law Center. Between 2016 and 2019 Katie taught Trial Advocacy at the University of Houston Law Center as an adjunct law professor. Today Katie continues to give back to her alma mater by coaching the University of Houston Mock Trial Team.

Katie feels most at home in the courtroom where she fiercely advocates for her clients. Having handled hundreds of lawsuits and represented thousands of injured Texans, Katie has been selected as a Thomson Reuters Texas Rising Star since 2017. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in Texas are selected to receive this honor. In 2018, Katie was inducted into the prestigious Texas Bar College.

Election to the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas, each year only the top 1/3 of 1% are invited to become Fellows. Katie is also a member of the State Bar of Texas’ Pro Bono Texas Campaign. Katie proudly serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Katie is routinely appointed by Harris County Civil District Judges as a Guardian Ad Litem where she is tasked with reviewing and approving settlements for minor children that have been injured due to the negligence of others.

Katie is a fierce believer and defender of the 7th Amendment- the right to a jury trial.

Katie became a licensed attorney at 23 years old. She has devoted her entire career to representing injured Texans.

During Katie’s free time she enjoys listening to true crime podcasts, traveling to Walt Disney World with her husband and daughter, and watching documentaries.
